✨What is the difference between permanent make up pigments and tattoo inks? Tattoos are made using ink while permanent makeup uses pigments. ✨What is the difference you ask? They are very similar in the respect that they are implanted into the skin but their composition is very different. ✅Cosmetic permanent makeup pigments use iron oxide, a pigment that is deemed as the safest pigment. Tattoos, on the other hand, are applied using a plethora of chemicals such as mercury sulfide, lead, chromium, nickel, ash, iron oxide, and the list goes on. This means that you more likely to develop allergic reaction to tattoo ink than to permanent makeup pigment. In addition, Cosmetic tattoo pigments are made up of smaller pigment particles that are suspended in a diluter – this allows for a more natural, softer colour in the skin that can be layered to create a much more realistic finish. ❗️Tattoo Inks are much more concentrated which means that they are much stronger in colour. Traditional tattoos are often very bold and bright. If you were to compare a traditional tattoo alongside a brow tattoo for example, you’d notice that the traditional tattoo is much deeper and richer and often has an abundance of bright, eye-catching colours. ❤️As permanent makeup artists I always want to create the most beautiful natural and realistic look that my clients seek. It’s important for me to reassure my clients that the work that I provide is intended to blend into their skin seamlessly rather than take on the appearance of being placed on top.

Therefore, the choice of color must be approached thoughtfully. If the quality and aesthetic result of the procedure is important to you, be sure to listen to the advice of the artist. Contraindications ❌ ✔ Pregnant or Nursing. ✔ History of Keloids or Hypertrophic Scarring. ✔ Person who is taking blood thinning medications (Aspirin, Plavix, Eliquis, Heparin, Lovenox, Ibuprofen and etc) ✔ Skin diseases such as Psoriasis, Eczema, or any undiagnosed rashes or blisters. ✔ Epilepsy. ✔ Accutane in the past 12 months ✔ Hepatitis. ✔ HIV. ✔ Blood clotting disorders such as Hemophilia or Von Willebrand Disease. ✔ Chemotherapy ✔ Alpha Hydroxy Acid (lactic, glycol citric, retinoid and tartaric acids) or over the counter creams and lotions for tone correcting, anti-aging and exfoliating. These products can discolor your permanent makeup. ✔ Flu or Cold: Please reschedule your appointment if you have a cold, flu or sinus/respiratory infection. ✔ Botox should be performed either 4 weeks prior to your scheduled procedure or 4 weeks after. ✔ Fillers should be done 6 weeks prior to your scheduled procedure or done 6 weeks after.
